Through our affiliation with the Pennsylvania Club, my brother Karl and I have had the good fortune to meet John Kawicke - aka "Walleye Slayer" - who runs a Walleye fishing charter on Lake Erie. John is a friend of member applicant Russ Noga and has been to the PA Club several times.

This summer, Karl and I twice chartered John. Each time, we boated more than sixty pounds of Walleye. First trip netted 8 very large fish - the largest weighing 10.5 pounds. Second trip netted 18 fish in the 5 to 6 pound range.

Not only did John put us on the fish, but he also managed seven lines using planer boards and downriggers, spotted the hits, netted the fish and then cleaned and bagged the catch. Both trips yielded about 12 pounds of fillets. No cluster #!&King on this boat!

If you miss walleye fishing on Lake Erie and want to Charter John, call him at 724-456-0043. You can also google "Chopper Charters" to locate his web site.
